Beliefs
River of Life is a member of the Assemblies of God. As such we believe in both the Four Cardinal Doctrines and the 16 Foundational Truths.
We believe that Mankind is inherently sinful. He has fallen from his rightful state of fellowship with God by his willful disobedience; both individually and corporately. We believe that there is no other way for fallen man to be restored to fellowship with his Creator than by accepting the sacrifice of Jesus on his behalf.
We believe that all believers are called to the baptism of the Holy Ghost. With the experience comes the provision of power for victorious Christian living and productive service. It also provides believers with specific spiritual gifts for more effective ministry. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is accompanied by the initial physical sign of speaking in other tongues (unlearned languages) as the Spirit of God gives them audible expression.
James, the Lord's half-brother wrote: "Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him." (James 5:14-15) We believe that God still moves and heals both His people as part of the freedom given by Jesus' sacrifice and to unbelievers to whom He wishes to reveal His mercy.
The Lord has ascended into heaven. One day He will return, the triumphant Lion. Believers will be caught away to paradise while those un-prepared will suffer judgment and eternity in the lake of fire.
